MAAM unveils a new lobby installation by Baseera Khan. Titled Where We Come From, the show features a large, fractured column wrapped in Kashmiri silk alongside six hand-worked prayer rugs that merge devotional imagery with the visual language of protest. Utilizing color, material, and form as their tools, Khan refuses the promise of fixed or monumental structures. Together, the works propose futurity as an ongoing process of revision, agency, and collective reimagining.
@baseerakhan
Come see all the work all over the city. Invest in us, you don’t have to come see me, but come see us.

This book is finally out, The Rose: A Circular Genealogy of Collage. I’m so proud to be in context with legendary artists.
The Rose was published in conjunction with a traveling show called its namesake, The Rose, organized by @lumberroompdx and edited by @justine4good @libby_pmoma @millermeigs
#yasiinbey said it best:
I don't wanna write this down
I wanna tell you how I feel right now
I don't wanna take no time to write this down
I wanna tell you how I feel right now, hey
Tomorrow may never come
For you or me
Life is not promised.

The “Grand Trine” series features geometries of light overlaying floral ornamentation. These geometries are based on my astrological birth charts. The use of walnut panels honor historical Kashmiri wood carving traditions, crafted by unknown artisans and relegated to decorative arts. By carving into the panels and employing shallow picture planes, pigment and geometry, hopefully the viewer’s gaze is obstructed from the culturally significant material beneath.
