BIO
Baseera Khan is a practicing artist and curator living/working in Brooklyn, New York. Currently, Khan is represented by the New York and San Francisco based Hosfelt Gallery. In August 2010, Khan will begin a 2 year MFA program at Cornell University College of Architecture, Art & Planning.
Khan received her BFA in Drawing/Painting with a concentration in Sociology at The University of North Texas in 2005. She completed a one year artist-in-residence program at the University of Texas at Dallas, directed by Richard R. Brettell from 2004-05. While in residence, Khan was awarded an Arch and Anne Gilles Kimbrough Fund through the Dallas Museum of Art. She has also become a finalist for the International Artist-in-Residence position at ArtPace in 2006 and was reviewed for the 2010 Whitney Biennial. Khan’s work was included in the Younger Than Jesus: Artist Directory published in 2009 by Phaidon Press Ltd for the New Museum, New York.
Khan has dedicated the past three years with BRIC Arts | Media | Bklyn working as the Assistant Curator for BRIC Rotunda Gallery and has also spent the past year as an active board member for the South Asian Women’s Creative Collective.
